About the Artist
I am Arathi Hungund. I do mainly Mysore traditional, Tanjore and acrylic paintings. I’ve had the pleasure of playing different roles in my life – from being a Post-Graduate in Economics, a homemaker, a mother to being a school and art teacher. However, throughout this journey I’ve always been immersed in art. What started out as teaching art and crafts to children, being ‘Drawing Aunty’ sparked my interest in different mediums as well!
This led me to do different training courses such as the one-year Fevicryl fabric painting course, a course in Tanjore painting and a certificate course in Mysore Traditional painting conducted by Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath (CKP), Bengaluru. Colours, palettes and getting the right brush strokes make me forget everything else and I get engrossed in my artwork.
I have done Rajasthani miniature painting, Tanjore , Nature, and Mysore traditional paintings. Two of my Mysore Traditional paintings were exhibited in the Students’ Showcase in one of the galleries at the Chitrakala Parishath, Bengaluru in January 2020.
I have also participated in India Art Festival – 2023 at Bengaluru.
I hope my artworks bring you the same joy they bring me while creating them.
